Wake up to a full, renewable charge from £10**

As an EV driver, you’re already helping drive the transition to a cleaner, greener energy system.  And we want to keep making it as simple as possible for you to charge at home with 100% renewable electricity, generated here in Britain from sun, wind and water*.

Electric car charging point

With energy prices set to rise at least once over winter, switch to Green Driver for the reassurance of having fixed prices that won’t change for 12 months. This tariff is exclusively available for our customers – get in touch to switch from your current Good Energy tariff to Green Driver. Our lines are open 9am-5pm Monday to Friday

What’s included:

Off-peak rates for our 100% renewable electricity

Get 7 hours of off-peak electricity for 25p/kWh. That means you could get a full charge from just £10*. Plus, all the power you use is matched with 100% renewable electricity from our community of 1,700 independent generators.  View Green Driver tariff rates and our eligibility criteria.

Smart time-of-use tariff

As you’ll need a smart meter to get Green Driver, you’ll benefit from knowing exactly how much energy you’re using at your different rates. This will help you understand your costs and spot ways to make savings.

An easier off-peak charging period

You can use your off-peak period for anything – whether that’s charging your car, or running the dishwasher.

Green Driver is a smart tariff

You must have a second-generation smart meter to get this tariff. If you don’t have a smart meter but still want to sign up, we will install a second-generation smart meter for you free of charge.

Bear in mind that as this tariff has limited availability, we can’t guarantee you will be able to switch once your meter is installed.
**Price from Zap-Map’s home charging calculator, based on fully charging the UK’s most popular EV, the Nissan Leaf 40 kWh at 25p/kWh, which takes 5.7 hours using a 7kW charger.

Important information about this tariff

Green Driver is exclusively available to current Good Energy customers. Due to ongoing challenges in the energy market, there is limited space on this tariff, so we are only offering it to people who are already with Good Energy and have shown interest in EV tariffs in the past.

This is a time-of-use tariff that depends on receiving regular smart meter readings. Before we can switch you onto it, you must agree to have a SMETS2 smart meter installed if you do not have one already, and for Good Energy to receive half hourly readings from your smart meter.

You can withdraw your permission for half hourly readings at any time, but you will become ineligible for the tariff.

This tariff is subject to restrictions on usage, you can find details of this in our eligibility criteria. Please be aware that your IHD (In-Home Display) may not show the correct unit rates, standing charges or prices for this tariff initially. We’re fixing this and will keep you updated on our progress. In the meantime, your IHD will still display your live usage in kWh and your meter readings correctly, so you will be able to see the correct charges in your online account and on your bills.

Please bear in mind that you’ll stay on your current Good Energy tariff until your meter is set up behind the scenes. This process can take up to seven days, and we will email you to confirm that you have been switched to Green Driver.

If for any reason your meter cannot be installed or set up, we will not be able to switch you to Green Driver and you will stay on your current tariff.

  • Why do I need to have a smart meter?

Smart meters give us an accurate view of your usage and allow us to bill you correctly. Your meter will send readings to us every half hour to make sure we know exactly how much you’re using during your peak and off-peak periods.

  • What happens if I don’t have a smart meter?

We will organise for you to have a free smart meter installed.  Once it’s up and running, you can check what smart tariffs are currently available and contact us for a quote. Having a smart meter fitted does not make you eligible for the current Green Driver rates

  • Is Green Driver a fixed tariff?

Yes, your rates are fixed until 31 August 2023. Before the end of your contract, we’ll get in touch to tell you about the cheapest and most relevant available tariff, so you can switch to a new tariff, or compare us to tariffs offered by other suppliers.

  • Is there a Green Driver Gas tariff?

No, but if you would like both fuels on supply with Good Energy you can either stay on your current gas tariff with us (if you have one) or choose our Standard Variable Tariff –  it comes with a discount for paying by Direct Debit, and is recognised by independent experts for being genuinely green.
